Main/Impact Signpost of Playing A Role

Postby kroche » Jan 19, 2012 8:13 am

Hi,

I am trying to get my current story idea into Dramatica Pro 4.

It comes up with a Main/Impact Signpost of Playing A Role which I am having difficulty imagining.

Does this mean both people are playing a role in this scene?

The best way to think of the Main/Impact throughlines is as the Relationship throughline. So rather than focusing on the main character and impact characters, think about their relationship.

Playing a Role, i.e. Being, is a transitive condition or affectation. Therefore, this signpost (Act) is explores the relationship throughline in terms of role playing, or temporarily adopting a lifestyle.

For example, let's say the relationship is about two competitive siblings, and this act might be about "Playing Nice," or "Pretending to be a Married Couple," or "Trying to Pretend All is Well in the Relationship," or "Being Angry even if you don't really feel Angry," etc.

Thanks Chris. I can see how that would fit now.
