Switching Templates

Postby ktbyrd » Mar 14, 2011 9:54 pm

Hello,
Newbie, here. I am writing a play and used the Novel template in the Writer's Dreamkit. I have spent several days working out the story form and have input quite a bit of information. But now, in looking thru the scenes for this template. I am realizing that the screenplay or short story template would be better for my purposes.

How can I switch this novel template to a screenplay template? (and keep all the work I've done.)
Please help. :D
thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, there is no way to change templates after you have begun using one. When you use a template, it creates a copy of the template, which becomes your document file.

My recommendation is to open a new template using the screenplay or short story template. Then go to the reports window, select and print the "Treatment with Structure" report. You'll now have a printed reference document to adjust or remake the scenes in your story's document file.

Make sure to change the "Scene Label" from Chapters to Scenes, if you want.
