Screenplay template

Postby Clint541963 » Feb 20, 2011 8:28 am

Is there a reason the Screenplay template automatically makes the guardian as the impact character? Is it just random? I noticed the Short story template automatically makes the Antagonist the IMPACT CHARACTER and the Novel template makes the EMOTION archetype the impact character.

For screenplays and novels, the assignment of the archetypes to the Impact Characters is a considered, though variable, choice. I would not say it is random.

For the short story template, the choice of antagonist as the IC is because short stories often have very limited character sets, and the antagonist is more often the IC than others.

Each of these assignments discounts the fact that MOST stories do not have character archetypes but complex characters.

These character assignments are offered as places to begin, though I recommend changing them to suit your story's needs.
