Character Intro problem

Ok, I've run into a problem. My main character's dad, when first introduced is asleep. It seems odd to describe the character while he's snoring. Is it ever appropriate to detail the character in a second appearance? That seems odd too.

Any thoughts?

If you see him on screen, then describe him. If he is off screen snoring, do not describe him, but do put the sound of SNORING in all caps.

Screenplays are for a visual medium, so if you see it (or him), you should describe it/him.

You can detail the character in a second appearance. You don't even need to do that, you can just reveal little bits as needbe as you go along.
