Viral marketing example - Cloverfield

hey all,
i'm reading up the imdb Cloverfield faq, which has a bunch of links at the bottom, including some viral marketing stuff, like these; which are the MySpace blogs of the fictional characters :
http://www.myspace.com/robbyhawkins
http://www.myspace.com/beth_mcintyre
http://www.myspace.com/marlenadiamond
this is cool! I've always fantasized about getting a book published and doing viral stuff like this just for the fun of it!
i wonder how does dramatica explain storyweaving of this fashion - where the blogs depict characterization before the fact; i.e. before the events in the movie, Cloverfield, occur?
