Hi !
I just know about Dramatica yesterday, it's reaaaaally amaze me the way it works ~

but i really confuse about the "8 Natural Character" (like IC, protagonis, etc)

The Question i have is...

Do anyone here know about visual novel?
Most of visual novel is contain ONLY FEW (1 or 2) boys, with MANY girls...

The Best Visual Novel or Anime for discribed my question is CLANNAD
Image
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clannad_(visual_novel)

in the story, we should choose a girl, and the other girls (maybe) come as sidekick character..
The question is, if i have 5 girls (example), how do i make the difference in their role??
Who is the Impact Character or ANTAGONIS?? because in this type of story, there is no ANTAGONIS....

is antagonis only act as the bad guys?? but what'll happen if there aren't antagonis??
or what'll happen if there aren't Impact Character?? (but in CLANNAD, maybe there is an IC, but i confused who is it?? >.< but i'm sure there aren't ANTAGONIS in the story...)

i reaaaaaaally want to make a beautifful story like that, n i hope Dramatica can help me for the script >.<

An antagonist need not be a villain. It is just opposed to whatever the story goal is determined to be. Without an antagonist, there is nothing to prevent the goal from being acheived, which means no conflict, and therefore no real story to tell.

I suggest you look into creating complex characters rather than using archetypes. Archetypes are like painting with primary colors. Big, bold, and simple. Complex characters allow for an infinite variety of shades and hues, lights and darks, and are more interesting to adult audiences.

Stories are about the effort to resolve an inequity, and therefore about problem solving and the efforts to hide problems from sight. The unsuccessful effort to resolve an inequity creates conflict. So, no conflict, no inequity, no story.

To avoid a "nasty" antagonist, make the antagonist just like the protagonist, except fighting for the other team. Make them a good person who feels that her efforts are right and the protagonist's efforts are wrong. A character like that seems more real, just misguided.

hmmm....
i see your pont.

but what if there's no antagonis?
isn't "obstacles" trough the story can be labeled as "antagonis"?
i mean, is the antagonis must be "human" or "living thing"?
can't be an antagonis is something like : weak body, uncurable disease, "thing" that protagonis hate, protagonis hateful past, etc as long as it not "human"

i don't really understand the function of human antagonis because i rarely read/watch love-comedy story that contain human antagonis, so i little bit confused and lose here hehe...

anyway thanks for the answer, i'll think about it ^^
and would you please to answere above question again?

oh yeah, do you have recomendation what i should read if i wan to know more about "antagonis"? preferably a romance story though >.<

Your antagonist need not be a human, or even an animal. It is a player of some sort that represents a contrary force to that of the protagonist. An antagonist may be a group, or a thing, such as Nature, or Pollution, or Technology. But understand, antagonists, just like protagonists, have story functions they need to fulfill as the story develops. It is your job as writer to illustrate how those functions reveal themselves to the audience over the course of the story's development.
