Errors/typos in the Dramatica Theory book?

Postby adambein » Oct 06, 2015 2:30 pm

I have "Dramatica. A New Theory of Story". Special 10th Anniversary Edition. Nov. 2004.

1) On page 389. It reads 16 Types. Then below there's "Situation Types", then "Activity Types".
Then there's the table.
Then there's "Situation Types". Should this instead be "Manipulation Types"?
Then there's "Activity Types". Should this be "Fixed Attitude Types"?

Some typos in the Dramatica Theory book?

Postby adambein » Oct 06, 2015 2:55 pm

2) On page 391. "64 Elements". Under "Situation Elements". Top row, 3rd column, 2nd row. 'Self-Aware'. "Aware" is smooshed to save space prob.
3) Page 244. Paragraph 3. "Suppose that we want to tell a story about a woman who wants to be President." "He." is used a few times after that.
4) Page 244. Paragraph 3. "Become". The "B" outta be lower case probably. I know, picky picky.
5) Page 244. The bullets. The 7th bullet down. At the end of "agenda" there's a comma.
6) Page 244. The bullets. The 2nd one from the bottom. To be consistent, "subconscious" outta be capitalized I think.

Thanks. I'll take a look at the most current version and make sure they have been corrected.

Pages 391 & 392 bottom grids are not consistent.

Postby adambein » Dec 17, 2015 10:17 am

ON page 391, the bottom left corner, the 4 sets of quads. They don't match page 392, lowermost grid, bottom left corner, 4 sets of quads. O.O

The font is small to see on page 192 on the bottom-most grid, but it looks like the whole grid doesn't match. Grrr.

I'll have to check the book -- I don't have one handy. I will note that the elements are in different arrangements in each class/domain, so how they are laid out DOES depend on the domain in which they exist.

Index. 'Theme', 'Encoding theme', 'Picking theme'

Postby adambein » Apr 21, 2016 5:27 am

1. In the Index at the back:
A. Page 423. Under 'Theme', add pages 240, 241.
B. Page 415. Under 'Encoding Theme', consider adding page 242.
3. Page 423. Under 'Theme', add page 216.
D. Consider adding 'Theme, choosing' or 'Theme, picking a', or 'Theme, assigning'. to page 218.
