The movie Wall Street

Postby michaeldwilson » Feb 06, 2013 9:55 am

Long time listener, first time caller.

Can anyone help me figure out the antagonist of the movie Wall Street? It seems to me that Gekko is helping Bud Fox achieve his desired goal, so I don't think he is the antagonist. Carl Fox, his father, offers Bud Fox an alternative approach, and so I assume is the contagonist.

Thanks,

Mike

If the goal of Wall Street is for Gordon Gekko to make lots of money, then Gekko (or possibly the "Rookie Trader") would be the protagonist, and the SEC folks would be the antagonist(s).

I don't think there are character archetypes, per se, but Carl Fox seems to be Conscience countering Gekko's Temptation influence. (I am a bit rusty on the specifics since I haven't seen it since it came out.)
