Call for Entries: The 2016 PAGE Awards

Postby PAGE » Dec 11, 2015 1:20 pm

Ready to kick-start your screenwriting career?

The 2016 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards competition is now open for entries!

In a few short months our Judges will once again present a total of 31 Awards to some of the most talented new screenwriters from across the country and around the world. Our winning writers will receive cash and prizes totaling over $50,000 - including Gold, Silver & Bronze Prizes in each of our ten genre categories - plus our huge $25,000 Grand Prize!

Most importantly, over the past decade the PAGE Awards competition has become widely recognized as one of the most important sources for new screenwriting talent within the Hollywood community and worldwide, and many of our past winners now have movies and television shows in production, on the air and in theaters.

Here's just a small sample of some of the great news coming in from our past winners:

2008 PAGE Award Winner Bill Dubuque wrote the Warner Bros. movies THE JUDGE, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, and THE ACCOUNTANT, starring Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick. Bill also recently signed a 7-figure deal with Universal to write THE REAL McCOY for Chris Pratt, and his Gold Prize-winning drama THE HEADHUNTER'S CALLING is currently filming in Toronto, starring Gerard Butler and Alfred Molina. He is represented by PAGE Judge Eric Williams at Zero Gravity and by CAA.

The 2010 PAGE Gold Prize-winning horror movie MAGGIE, by John Scott III, was released earlier this year, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin in the starring roles. John wrote the new feature PARABLE X, which he will also be directing, and he was just named to Variety's list of "10 Screenwriters to Watch." He is represented by Sly Predator and ICM.

The 2014 Grand Prize-winning action movie THREE OF SWORDS, by Matias Caruso, was optioned by PAGE Judge Mitchell Peck of Peck Entertainment. Mitchell brought the script to all the major agencies, and after fielding several offers of representation, Matias chose to sign with CAA. CAA is now presenting the script to some of their top directors.

After winning her Silver Prize in 2005, Janet Lin was signed by The Gersh Agency and landed a job on the writing staff of the CBS series WATERFRONT. The following year, she got staffed on the Fox series BONES, and over several seasons worked her way up through the ranks to the position of producer. Last year she served as one of the head producers on the ABC series FOREVER.

After winning his Gold Prize in 2012, Graham Norris was signed by PAGE Judge Joe Riley of Velocity Entertainment. Shortly thereafter, Graham landed a job on the writing staff of the CW series iZOMBIE, and he was signed by UTA. Now Deadline has announced that iZOMBIE creator Rob Thomas is backing Graham as Executive Producer on Graham's new TV series TEMPEST.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg! You can read more about our past winners and some of their terrific achievements on the Success Stories pages of our website:

Screenwriters,

Have you entered The 2016 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards contest yet?

Our Final Entry Deadline is next Monday night, May 16 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, so you have just a few more days to get your script in the running for one of this year's awards!

If you're serious about your screenwriting career, let me tell you three reasons why I think this is such an important opportunity for you...

#1: TOP INDUSTRY JUDGES

Are you looking for ways to get your scripts into the hands of top producers, agents, managers, and development executives - the people who can actually help you get your movie or television show produced?

When you enter the PAGE Awards competition, right from the get-go, those are the exact people who are reading and evaluating your script.

In fact, the reason why so many Hollywood execs come asking to judge the PAGE Awards contest is because they're looking for new projects to produce and new writers to represent, and each year many of our winners and finalists are optioned and signed by producers and representatives who read their scripts during the contest judging process.

It's a serious "win-win"!

#2: HUGE PRIZES & GREAT ODDS

Come this fall, our Judges will present a total of 31 Awards to some of the most talented new screenwriters from across the country and around the world. Our winning writers will receive cash and prizes totaling over $50,000 - including our huge $25,000 Grand Prize - plus Gold, Silver & Bronze Prizes in each of our ten genre categories.

Plus, throughout the contest judging process, your script is only competing with other scripts in the exact same genre category. And because we present a total of 31 awards, your script has an excellent chance of winning (approximately 1 in 200).

In other words, we do everything possible to stack the odds in your favor!

#3: PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

Over the past decade, the PAGE Awards competition has become one of the most respected sources for new screenwriting talent in the world, and many of our past winners are now seeing their movies and television shows in production, on the air, and in theaters. Writers like like Bill Dubuque (THE JUDGE, THE ACCOUNTANT), John Scott III (MAGGIE, PARABLE X), Janet Lin (BONES, FOREVER), VJ Boyd (JUSTIFIED, THE JURY), Sang Kyu Kim (THE WALKING DEAD, WAYWARD PINES), and many, many more.

So, whether your goal is to sign with a top literary representative, land a paid writing assignment with a major Hollywood production company, get staffed on a hit TV series, or sell your screenplay and get your movie produced, entering the PAGE Awards competition could mark that turning point in your career, just like it has for so many other writers!

But remember, our Final Entry Deadline is this Monday night, May 16 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, so if you haven't yet entered this year's contest, this is your very last chance!

To submit your script, simply go to the How to Enter page on our website, read the instructions, then click the gold button at the bottom of the page to access our online entry form:

pageawards.com/the-contest/how-to-enter

It could prove to be a life-changing, career-making decision for you, just like it has been for so many of our past winners.

I do hope you'll choose to enter the 2016 PAGE Awards contest...

We'd love help launch your career!

Sincerely yours,
