Outline 4D & Loooong stories

Postby stephenbuck415 » Feb 01, 2011 3:25 pm

From http://forums.screenplay.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=203

Chris Huntley wrote:While I haven't seen much of Battlestar Gallactica (yet), I have seen the pilot and an occasional episode here and there. That said, I imagine there are SEVERAL stories threading their way through the series, with most of the major character being MC's in their own personal stories.

In the bonus interview features on the DVD, the producer Ronald Moore mentioned that was essentially the intent, however not in those words. He said that everyone is used to space battle scenes and sci-fi technology from Star Wars, Star Trek, and now that technology is so interwoven with our society, that it was time to do something different. This time the characters are in space, but the story is not about sci-fi but about people... Each of the principle characters in the story is a main character with their own highly complex (and subsequentially very painful) backstory that is gradually revealed through the series.

In my opinion, the complexity of Battlestar Galactica and other series such as Babylon 5 and the BBC's Doctor Who make Storyview 2.0 (Outline 4D) one of the more valuable resources available to writers.

Do we have confirmation that the people who make these series use said software?

I can not confirm they do, but my writing project is inspired by those stories and Outline 4D is helping me keep track of who is doing what and when.
