Printing production sides

Postby Balsamo » Jan 24, 2016 1:24 pm

I have been using MMSW 6 since it came out and it is my constant friend.

Most recently I have been using it to write s stage play. This has gone very well
and we're now at a point to do table readings and a little tentative auditioning.

I'd love to be able to print production sides of some scenes for these purposes.
The MMSW online manual index says this is covered at page 120 of the manual
but it doesn't seem to be there.

I can of course print two pages of script to a page via my printer set up,
but I'd prefer to use the two-to-a-page of the same page which is what I
think MMSW is intended to do. Please tell me whether I have to lock
the script before doing that. I'm not ready to lock the script yet, but
still want to print sides.

Thank you for your assistance.

Balsamo,

Below is how you can print production sides. Thanks for submitting your question!

Windows

  1. Click on File > Print.
  2. Choose Entire Document (or just the selected pages/scenes you want to include).
  3. There is a pulldown menu that says Print Normally to Printer that you need to change to Print as Production Sides (2 copies per page).
  4. Click OK.

Macintosh

In the Macintosh version of Screenwriter 6, the production sides feature is only available when exporting to PDF.

  1. Click on File > Export to > Adobe Acrobat PDF (.pdf).
  2. Choose a name and location in which to save the PDF file (e.g., Desktop, Documents, etc.) and click Save.
  3. Choose Entire Document (or just the selected pages/scenes you want to include).
  4. Check the box that is labeled Create Production Sides in this PDF file.
  5. Click Export.
  6. Open the PDF file you just created into Adobe Reader or Preview and print out the production sides from there.

Thank you very much, Ken. I knew it was there somewhere. The Mac approach is a little arcane, but it worked fine.
I thank you, and my readers thank you!
