HELP please: iPartner not working

Hi,
My writing partner and I have just both (finally) got set up with MMS 6, and cannot get ipartner to connect our two computers.

We have tried connecting over the 4 ports that one can use (2200, 2136, 2184, 2245), and have we each tried both of the roles of (1) being the person to initiate the connection, and (2) being the person to 'receive' the connection.

We keep on getting 'error' messages saying that the connection has timed out. Initially, Windows firewall blocked an attempt to connect, but I disabled the block. Is there any, similar, block that a Mac might attempt or any PC or Mac setting that may not be immediately obvious that

We have tried using ipartner as the sole connection, and have also tried using it while we have Skype open.

My writing partner is using a Mac (probably OS X), and I am on a PC (Win XP Professional Service Pack 3).

Nothing works, and I would appreciate any help anyone could give (KenTech?).

The Mac OS that my writing partner has on his Mac is OS X 10.5.8
