Re: Re:Characters/Elements/signposts
To StephenBuck415, I would like to continue discussing this topic. I wonder if I didn't fully understand what you were going for and derailed your question. Hi Sam. Please feel free to simply address me by my last name, Buck. No, I did not feel my question was derailed at all. You asked questions t...

Build Characters
Thus far when I use Dramatica, I jump between several different windows: The Query System (going to whatever area the impulse moves me to), the Plot Progression, and the Theme Browser. Unless there is already a premise inside my head, I start to visualize the story by keeping the Theme Browser open ...

Where may I find a list of authors (and their books) who have used Dramatica to help craft their stories?
Thanks,

Hi.
I hate to be the bearer of an undesirable answer, but go to Edit > Preferences > General Options > Window Options and check File Menu can open multiple stories, then open both of your documents side by side and... copy and paste.

Ah, okay, I understand. I'm still new to screenwriting and am most likely complicating things.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Creating a Dramatica-Based Screenwriter Template
I understand that a basic screenwriting outline follows this structure: Act - Sequence -- Scene --- Beat Dramatica seems to have this basic outline structure: Class - Type -- Variation --- Element I would like to combine the best of both worlds to create an expanded Screenwriter outline that would a...

Re: Dramatica Writers Group in San Francisco
Regretfully, it is no longer possible for our San Francisco group to continue meeting at the Border's in Union Square as it is among the stores to be liquidated. Fortunately, we have a new location that provides an even better environment for our group. Please visit the calendar linked in my signatu...

Dramatica Groups & Charging to Teach Dramatica
I have a little bit of an interesting situation before me here in San Francisco. BACKGROUND A while ago I decided that I wanted to start a coffee-shop discussion group for Dramatica users in the Bay Area. Border's Books was generous to grant me use of their meeting space two Monday evenings each mon...

Re: Outline 4D & Loooong stories
I can not confirm they do, but my writing project is inspired by those stories and Outline 4D is helping me keep track of who is doing what and when.

Outline 4D & Loooong stories
From http://forums.screenplay.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=203 While I haven't seen much of Battlestar Gallactica (yet), I have seen the pilot and an occasional episode here and there. That said, I imagine there are SEVERAL stories threading their way through the series, with most of the major chara...

Re: Newbie
Okay, here's another question. Could my download have come without the examples? I think it's more likely that it's not automatically opening to the default location of the templates and examples. There are two ways that I can open files in Dramatica. I can go to File > Open or click on the Open St...

Re: Newbie
Hi Teresa. There is an unavoidable learning-curve that one needs to experience before being able to use Dramatica to its fullest extent and with ease, but even then it seems even experienced users experience new questions along the way. Hi There, 1. On the Create Character what is the 'typecast' but...

Re: 16 Elements, 28 Characters
Hi Wednesday. I'm writing a epic historical fantasy spanning three trilogies, and am using Dramatica, Outline 4D, and Screenwriter to put it all together. You may be able to keep track of your characters and traits using the Scene List. Mappings within the Scene List appear in Dramatica Reports, and...

28 characters is a lot. Novel or Screenplay?
I'm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but Melanie has a Dramatica Unplugged series available for purchase at www.storymind.com. I found it to be one of my more worthwhile investments when it comes to understanding Dramatica.

Probably because Dramatica Pro has not been updated in several years, to which Chris admits that the update is long overdue and is in development.

Re: Sequences
I read on another post from Chris Huntley that Dramatica has different templates and the book template has 60 chapters instead of 28 when you get to the story (forming?) at the end of part 3 of the story guide.  Which still leads me to ask, am I far off on my 28 sequences suggestion...

Re: How to Understand Impact Character Signposts?
Either: one of these approaches is right and the other is wrong, or they're both right. If they're both right, I don't understand why. Hi Prodos. Have you come closer to finding an answer to your questions since you posted them? Based on my understanding of Dramatica and its theory thus far, both a...
