Re: Film Making
Hi Marius. I noticed that your book comes up on a site called PLR Private Label Rights (http://www.plrprivatelabelrights.com/about-plr/). Are you the author of this material or a repackaging material from the site? I'm not sure how this site works (http://www.plrprivatelabelrights.com/resale-rights/...

Re: What is a "scene"?
On the contrary, I recommend against trying to capture the entirety of the book visually in your script. Capture the essence of the action but balance it with dialogue. Screenplay format is a technical format -- that's why it has all the odd margins. They are there to produce the page-a-minute avera...

Re: This doesn't sound right to me
You're on tricky ground then. If it's recognizably well known, I recommend changing the character names and other incidental identifying elements so that you don't get into a rights issue UNTIL and UNLESS you've got someone interested. That's the "I want someone to notice and want my script&quo...

Re: What is a "scene"?
They can all be correct depending on the way you want the story to unfold. What's important is how you want it paced, where you want attention drawn, and whether or not the components are supposed to be together or separate. Another factor is timing. A screenplay page should represent a minute of sc...

Re: This doesn't sound right to me
My personal opinion is yes and no depending on how well known the novel is and whether or not you control the rights to the property. If the book is well known and can add interest in your project (and you control the rights), then yes. Anything to increase interest in your script is good. If the bo...

Re: What is a "scene"?
There are a great number of ways to answer the question, "What is a scene?" The traditional, SPEC SCREENPLAY answer to that question has to do with a change of location and/or time. The example above could be written such that it all takes place from inside the place where Bob is, in which...

BTW, Buck, I like your answers to the original questions. I think your insights are valuable, especially since you've 'been there...done that', so to speak.

Re: Story to Story Form & Story Form to Story
When doing story analyses, especially GROUP story analyses, I find it valuable to limit the discussion to defining a single storyform, which typically involves answering eight to twelve questions. Then we spend some time looking at all of Dramatica's implied choices to see if they reflect what is fo...

Re: Personal help (:
Really, it could be anything. If you haven't already done so, it might be helpful to identify the throughline in which this Issue resides. Also, assigning the throughline to a Domain (Situation, Activity, Fixed Attitude, or Manipulation) will help you even further. Choosing the Throughlines, the Dom...

Re: Story Static Points
Yes, static story points DO repeat -- at least once per signpost (ideally). Each throughline has its own static story points, which need to be explored within the confines of the respective domains. For example, the Story Goal and Story Consequence should make an appearance at least once in the Over...

I think the only requirement is that you find other people to join your group and find a place to meet. At this point we do not have any 'official' requirements to begin a Dramatica Users Group.

Re: Class - Throughline
Short answer: No and No. Why? Because the entirety of a grand argument story is to explore a single inequity from multiple perspectives within a single context. Switching throughline domains before the inequity has been fully explored alters the context within which meaning is sought. Context create...

Re: Signpost and Journey questions
1. In a perfect story world, the signposts happen simultaneously. HOWEVER, in the real world we dole them out in bits and pieces over time, and thus the need for Storyweaving. There are no RULES for storyweaving, only guidelines. For example, it's generally acceptable to finish weaving all four thro...

No easy method because the move position relative to other quads vertically and horizontally, and unequally. Plus the labels take the domain into consideration at the Type and Variation levels.

Re: Plot Sequence Report: Are the Variations sequential?
No, the non-'standard' patterns are side effects of the model being twisted in response to the inequity at the heart of the story. They reveal areas that have been warped by the influence of the story dynamics.

Re: Storyengine Resizing
The best way around limited screen space with the Story Engine is to reduce the Font Size. I've found that if you reduce it to 9pt it will fit into a 1024 x 768 screen. You can change the font by pressing CMD+T while in the Story Engine to bring up the Font Preferences window. You may also gain some...

Re: Conceptualization versus Conception
Conceiving is about coming up with ideas or "getting it" (think lightbulbs going off). Conceptualizing (Developing a plan) is figuring out what do with an idea once you have it, of working out a plan for something that you haven't quite figured out (conceived) yet. For example, Fred knows ...
