Re: Objective and Subjective Items in Diagonal Pair

I'm not quite sure how you are determining what is an Objective item and what is a Subjective item in your examples. Is this referencing something Melanie has written on her site?

Re: My Dinner With Andre

I don't think My Dinner With Andre is supposed to be a grand argument story and I think it succeeded well. I haven't seen it in a while, but it was one of the most tedious films I've ever sat through in a theater. (IMO)

Re: How would I write this?

There are many ways to write this, but I'd recommend that you keep it simple and obvious, something like the following: Bob sits at his desk writing in his journal. BOB (V.O) Today I really messed up. I blah blah blah blah blah blah blah -- ... and so on.

Done. I've put a small banner that appears on the left side of the home page (and many other pages as well). Thank you again for the suggestion.

Re: Missing figures in PDF: PRCO and 1234

Yes, figures 11a-11d are missing from the article, though I think the illustrations by Arcus above capture their essential meaning perfectly. Well done.

I'm not sure what happened to figure 14.

Re: Need a bit of advice

This is not a definitive answer, but here are the two most obvious possibilities... VERSION 1: Have either of the two siblings read the contents aloud. This would be done in dialogue. Bob picks up the note and reads it aloud. BOB Blah blah blah... OR. Bob picks up the note. BOB (reading) Blah blah b...

Re: Theory vs. Software - Need help

I'm not sure of the value of viewing it that way, but yes -- that's the way it looks in terms of archetypes. I think it's important to point out that very few stories (apart from children's stories) rely on pure character archetypes. Most stories use simple characters (one or two characteristics fro...

Re: Theory vs. Software - Need help

The best way of imagining element interactions is through the objective characters to which the elements (characteristics) have been assigned. Each level has four quads. The elements have four levels (a total of 64 characteristics). Now, there is a simple way to imagine how to get the 24 scenes. The...

Choose the File>Export to Screenwriter... command. I recommend saving the file in your Movie Magic Screenwriter documents folder. TO IM...

RE: SCENES Shorter answer: There are many ways to construct scenes. The 28-scene Signpost and Journeys method only looks at scenes at slightly less than act sized resolution and from a plot perspective. It's more like a suggested sense of the major beats in a plot, rather than filmic scenes. Charact...

Hey Peter -- The two ways your novel can be storyformed are the two you described: One storyform for the whole shebang or two storyforms (one for each family). If the first family represents your MC's backstory, then the two storyform approach might be a better fit. The backstory need not be fully e...

Re: Question About MC Growth

Hi Geoff -- The change from Do-er to Be-er and vice versa is incidental (though not irrelevant) to MC Resolve of Change. The main change happens at the element level where the MC changes from trying to resolve his personal "problem" by adopting the MC Solution. The GROWTH happens at that l...
