Re: Can the MAIN CHARACTER also be...

Yes, you can safely assign the role of the SKEPTIC to the MC. In fact, if you are using archetypes, you must assign at least one archetype to the MC. The MC must have a role to play in the overall story. You're probably thinking of the PROTAGONIST when you say she is a driver and not a passenger. &q...

Re: Theme relationship tool

Nicely done. For some of my stories I've tried making lists to show some of those connections, but your chart is much more elegant. Thanks for sharing it.

Re: Characters in Scene Creation

I've put in some scenes etc., and I'm looking in 'referenced story points' for my characters to 'pop up' Sounds like you're in the Query System, Scene Creation window. By 'referenced story points' I assume you mean the "This Scene Represents" button where you can select story points and a...

Re: how to explore impulsive responses in terms of Enlighten

I thought I'd post the entry from the Dramatica Dictionary, in case it helps. Enlightenment: an understanding that transcends knowledge. SYNONYMS: insight, illumination, intuitive discernment, transcendent comprehension. DYNAMIC PAIR: Wisdom, understanding how to apply Knowledge. LONG DEFINITION: No...

Re: Story Form - I wish there were some way to compare them

When I have two storyforms I want to compare, I export the Story Engine Report to a separate text file for each storyform. I then open both text files and maximize each window (so the text in each file will be in the same position on the screen). Then I compare the reports by switching back and fort...

Re: Changing too late

I also understand that a change character who changes for the better is a judgement of good, while a change character who should have remained steadfast is a judgement of bad. Yes, if when you say "better" you are referring to the resolution of the Main Character's personal problem, and n...

Re: characters and PSR

Trevor, I don't think you have to do either. When writing a scene exploring " The Present in terms of permission " you can use any characters you want to explore these issues. Each character will bring to the scene the perspectives that come from that character's elements. I don't believe ...

Re: Dramatica and editing documentary

Hey, I’ve used Dramatica for documentaries too. I’ve used it successfully, but to different degrees, for two films. The first documentary film I used it for was a feature that I produced about a muralist. I used Dramatica throughout the entire project. Having studied Dramatica for a couple of years ...

Re: Help Please.

As you noted, there isn't a way to import a document into Dramatica. But you can copy and paste the text of your story into the Story Comments window in Dramatica (I don't know if there's any limit on the amount of text it can hold). Then you could open the Story Points window and have the two windo...

Re: Story Form - How do I find out which one was selected?

I use the Story Engine Settings report (Reports -> Advanced Reports -> Story Engine Settings) which shows the details of the story form you've chosen. You can then print or save to a text file. The same information is also available in The Brainstorming (Spin-the-Model) tool, which, if you click the...
