Problem and Solution Elements
Hi, In plotting sequences for a script, I found an interesting way of doing it. This seems borne out in movie sequences. I'd come up with a beginning, middle, and climax scene for each. Then fill in two journey scenes, one between each of those three. If you're doing an action driven story, the idea...

Re: Objective and Subjective Items in Diagonal Pair
I was reading through this posting: http://forums.screenplay.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=65&p=109&hilit=justification#p109 where you were mentioning the difference between two variations (Rationalization and Obligation) is perspective. "From the inside, it looks like one. From the outs...

Re: Illustrating Justification Levels
Of course, it's tricky to see how the IC could undergo justification levels unless you treat the IC as experiencing his own growth AND having this same influence on the MC.

Objective and Subjective Items in Diagonal Pair
Hi, I looked through the Theme Browser to see if the Objective and Subjective items remain consistent. By this, I mean, each dynamic pair would have an Objective variation and a Subjective variation. The Objective would be in top position (diagonally) and Subjective being in the bottom. This is puzz...

Illustrating Justification Levels
My question concerns the Levels of Justification. These seem like a clear way to show my MC and IC resolves developing. I like the way it's described as one per Act. Melanie presents one series of levels in her article here: http://dramaticapedia.com/2012/10/03/dramaticapedia-ability-2/ article abou...

My Dinner With Andre
For those well versed in Dramatica theory, I'm curious what people's opinions are. What do you think My Dinner With Andre has for a story form. Essentially where are the through lines and so forth? I think Wallace Shawn's character, the visiting friend, is the MC because he's learning the various id...

Want to Sync Dramatica files with iPad
Hello, Pardon me for asking this, but here's a software question. Is there a way of syncing docs created with Dramatica Story Expert to my iPad so I could work with them there? Of course, the iPad has a different operating system than Mountain Lion. Thanks. If not, I figure the only way would be jus...

Regretfully I don't have an answer either, but I noticed the same thing and am glad you spoke up.

Glad to read you're working with Dramatica. I would say stick with those two files. You should feel one way or the other is better after working with both for a while.

Re: Storyweaving vs. Storiesweaving-How many Minds does it t
I had been holding off on answering this until someone with a stronger view could chime in. Sorry. My instinct says go with the one story form. That way the audience wouldn't be trying to keep track of too many different themes.

Thanks, Chris. Glad you mentioned that last part about the change not necessarily being reflected in the domain level. That helped a lot.

Static Story Points and Drivers
Earlier this morning, I was watching a simplistic 80s movie called The Invisible Kid. I was spotting what the drivers were like at the Act breaks and to see if I could spot what I'm calling minor drivers splitting up an Act into maybe three parts. Out popped a driver or two which seemed related to t...

Question About MC Growth
About 52 minutes into the "Harvey" podcast (available on dramatic.com), Chris Huntley mentioned something about MC Growth which surprised me… and perhaps quite a few others. For a Change character, I had thought Stop or Start related directly with the shift from Doer to Beer or Beer to Doe...

Two SS Throughlines in "The Karate Kid"
Enjoying my new blu-ray copy of "The Karate Kid", the classic 1984 version. Having long recognized the relationship between Mr. Miyagi and Daniel, I was actually biased when seeing "Rocky" for the first time last year. It seemed Rocky's coach was another IC. Anyway, I noticed Dan...

Re: Brainstorming Help: Optionlock
Thanks, Kintelary. Yes, the protagonist is also the main character. By "good legacy" I meant people would remember her in history in a good light. She'd be remembered positively. Your second two questions are good questions to think about. I've also listed story drivers and wondered if the...

Re: Difference Between Requirements and Options?
Looking through the comprehensive story forms on Dramatica.com, I get some sense of a difference. Perhaps while the options are purely various avenues to go, the requirements are conditions set up for the goal to be achieved. Example: A house must be sold (goal). There are newspaper ads, personal co...

Difference Between Requirements and Options?
Hi, Ugh. This has been on my mind. I want to better understand the distinction between Requirements and Optionlock. Sampling the podcasts and Dramatica.com story forms, I see a Goal. I see Options being a short list of paths or necessary things to be finished to achieve that Goal. The Bucket List is...

Brainstorming Help: Optionlock
Hi everybody. Sometimes you've got to be smart enough to approach a task from a whole different direction. Using Dramatica, I've been figuring out scenes for my signposts, fitting in what scenes come to mind. In the past week, I realized maybe it's easier to just list those great ideas for twists as...

Re: KATD Functions
Too bad. I did notice something interesting about the Inequity/Equity quad. That's where my story focuses. If you go through all four domains, each seems to be:
KA AK
DT TD
The exception being the upper left of the Situation domain:
KK AA
TT DD
AA KK
DD TT
I could see this making sense.
