Re: Writing with Dramatica

Not a problem. Trust me when I say it takes a while getting adjusted to the program. To be honest, I think it takes a lot of failing to get it right, simply for trial and error, and that's been my problem. I want to get it perfect my first shot but because of the complexity of Dramatica it's hard to...

Re: Writing with Dramatica

I know how you feel. I really enjoy using the 64 Scene's with 28 Signposts idea. I don't know how this will help you but this is kind of how I set things up. you know how stories tend to follow a three disaster/act structure? Well, I look at each journey as that disaster break divided into fours. On...

Throughlines for Characters

I've been having a wild time with Dramatica PRO and there's been a lot I've learned since I picked this up about 6 months ago. However now my exploration has reached a point that's piqued my curiosity and I wasn't sure where to go, so I decided to bring my situation here for you all to see, and hope...

Re: Plot Sequence Report

Thank you very much for the response, Chris, and the link! It definitely cleared up a lot of questions for me (Some that I didn't even ask). I can now understand why different story forms present different elements in the PSR.

Plot Sequence Report

I've been studying Armando's Dramtica for Screenwriters book and there's a section in which it uses the Plot Sequence Report to help illustrate your story (Which, from what I gather, is close to, if not completely, a grand argument story). Couple things I noticed about it that threw me for a minor l...

Re: Examples for encoding Requirements: How things are chang

Well, you can play around with this pretty well. Since it's a haunted house, maybe the house morph's at given times, providing different routes and or possible exits, and maybe when they first entered there was no way out, but when the house morphs (How things are changing) an exit presents itself. ...

Re: Scene & Sequel in Dramatica

From my knowledge, a sequel is kind of like the portion of your story in which you explore a certain topic, and the scene's are the smaller area's that help amplify that topic exploration. Something else to keep in mind while using Dramatica, is that it's simply a guide, a means to say "If you ...

Re: Build Character Archetype Positions

I've noticed the changes too, but i think it's to match the theme browser in terms of domains, so I can't say that these positions will change if you choose "Perception" over "Interpritation" or things like that... though I'm still fairly new at this so I could be way off base......

Re: Main vs Impact Throughline

I need to add a disclaimer to the above bit I included using Armando's formulas... I didn't type that out manually, at least to get that result. I created a monstrously user-unfriendly spreadsheet with Dramatica definitions, mapped that to Theme Browser attributes, and mapped that to a sheet that i...

Re: Main vs Impact Throughline

I'll say this much, I definitely bookmarked that link. It's late in the night where I'm at so I can't really conjure up a good response, but all this information, from when you first posted to this last segment you added has definitely increased both my knowledge of the dramatica program and my insp...

Re: Main vs Impact Throughline

I would identify the characters as the story progressed, and I would put the scenes where I thought they should go without any storyforming to guide (confuse?) me. I thought that approach would challenge my understanding of the theory because no writer opens up Dramatica and begins to write scene s...

Re: Main vs Impact Throughline

I have got to say, reading all the responses have literally opened a door within my mind that says "Hey, this kinda makes sense now!" To put it bluntly, about throughlines, one could look at the different relationships involved. For example a man and a woman who, as stated above, is marrie...

Re: Main vs Impact Throughline

Thank you for the response, and rest assured the answers were definitely informational. Currently the idea I'm trying to grasp is, as you noted about the OS, sitting in the chair of the audience (As if to be looking over the entire thing). I think what the problem I am struggling with is those sever...

Main vs Impact Throughline

I'm new to the whole Dramatica program and there's been a bit of a snag in understanding one of the concepts. The Main vs Impact Throughline is something of a complex for me to grasp. The OS Throughline, by my understanding, is simply the board in which all the players are in, working in some way fo...
