Re: Acts, signposts & scene order

The significant advantage to having your storyweaving mix up the order of events by comparison to their plot order But I am not even talking about mixing up the order of events. I am talking about mixing the scenes which are derived from the Plot Sequence Report, without necessarily changing their ...

Re: Acts, signposts & scene order

As I already stated, I am not using the journeys, but the series of scenes or events per signpost as proposed in " Dramatica for Screenwriters ". I just wonder whether I have to write such a sequence of events it its entirety after each signpost, or whether I can mix and match them. Saldan...

Hey, why not make an online version, so people can work on their projects from whatever machine they like, as long as they connected to the Internet? This is 2012, folks!

Re: Calling Chris Huntley...PC

Of course, you could also use something like GNUStep or Cocotron to port the Cocoa source to Windows. It won't be .NET though, but I don't know whether that is really a requirement.

no, really.

Well, it's quite a sloppy error, especially since they put it in a screenshot.

I am also curious about the "Generate scenes" command, but I can't find anything about it in the manual. What is that all about?

Re: When will next update of Dramatica Pro be available?

Yes, it can read (and write) old Dramatica files. We hope to have the PC version out in Spring 2013. Wow, that's late. Why the immense gap? Our use of the term Methodology refers to HOW characters go about solving problems, as opposed to Motivation, which describes what drives character to solve pr...

Re: When will next update of Dramatica Pro be available?

Will the new version still be able to read old Dramatica files? And when will the PC version be out? By the way: I checked out the screen shots, and when I saw the one of the "Assign Characteristics " page I couldn't help but wonder what a "metholodology" is. Is that Dramatica li...

Scene & Sequel in Dramatica

I have been reading about the techniques of Dwight Swain, in which he talks about setting up a Scene, which is followed by a Sequel, in which characters respond to what happened in the Scene. How does this relate to Dramatica? For instance, should some of the "28 magical scenes" be Scenes ...

Re: Acts, signposts & scene order

Based on my understanding of the theory thus far, Signposts and Journeys of a set (#1, #2, #3, & #4) need to remain within that set... but the scenes within those sets can be structured in any order. That's odd, since in one of the links you handed it is implied that you can change the order of...

Re: Acts, signposts & scene order

Thank you for your responses. What I generally gather is that I am free to write the scenes in any order, as long as I have addressed all story points in the end. I also see that it is better to change the order of acts, but not to mingle scenes from different acts in one throughline. Well, let's se...

Re: Acts, signposts & scene order

Thanks for your response, but it doesn't really answer my question. Let me elaborate on what I try to do. I don't want to use signposts and journeys. I want to use Armando's technique of making a sequence of scenes for each signpost. For instance, I have deduced these: (I use letters for the separat...

Acts, signposts & scene order

I have been fiddling around with the technique of creating scenes for my novel from the Plot Sequence Report, but I wonder if there is a strict order to the scenes. Do I have to put all the scenes of one throughline per signpost in order before I move on to other throughlines? Or can I mix up scenes...

Re: Weaving throughlines without changing POV

Doesn't this mean that you basically have to blend scenes from various throughlines into one? If there's a scene in which the MC and IC go through their throughline together, and in which also something about the OS is being exposed, this would mean that there will be one scene for three throughline...

Re: Weaving throughlines without changing POV

Yes, but just how do you wave the throughlines when you stick to first person, or intimate third person? Do I have to tell the Impact Character's story through the eyes of the POV? How do I do this when the Impact Character and POV character are not the same person and don't appear in the same scene?

Weaving throughlines without changing POV

Is there a way in which I can weave all the throughlines while maintaining a single point of view? I'd hate to switch to the Impact Character's point of view just to weave in his scenes, for example. I also don't like to drop the point of view just to insert some Objective Story. Any advice is welco...

Re: Scene sequence for Main & Impact character

Okay, but what if the Impact character and Main character meet right at the beginning of the story? They will likely have interaction, so you'd actually have to describe the same scene twice, even though you're concerned with different domains.

Scene sequence for Main & Impact character

In the Dramatica book I read that scnese don't have to be written for all of the various throughlines at once. So, the impact character's first scene could be described a lot later than the one for the main character. But wouldn't that just lead to describing the same scene twice, when the impact an...

Re: WHo is the protagonist?

At first glance, it sounds like the girl is the protagonist and the spirit is the antagonist because what they are both fighting over the same thing - possession of the girl's mind/soul. Well, it's not so much that the spirit wants to take over her soul. She is actually benevolent, but is simply a ...

Who is the protagonist?

I hi there... I want to bust in with a nagging question I have with filling in the character profiles. I have this story about a girl who finds a possessed item. The spirit that comes from this item also turns out to be a girl, who starts to take over the other girl's life. Both characters are very ...
