Re: dialogue

God! I want to know that one, too!

'The Art of Dramatic Writing' by Lajos Egri is GREAT information on dialogue, btw. As is 'How NOT to Write a Screenplay' by Denny Martin Flinn.

Hi, Rosswell!

Amen to that, dude. Serling was brilliant. A friend called him the Edgar Allen Poe of our times, and I think that's pretty right. I invested in 'The Twilight Zone Definitive Collection.' It has hours of college lectures by Serling ABOUT 'The Twilight Zone.' Great, great stuff!

Re: Order of Exposition

And, actually, Fr4gm3nt, I misspoke. I said 'keeping the really, really good stuff for your hook,' but then I thought of something I just typed, like, yesterday - In 'Highlander' they show us the stuff JUST BEFORE the end of Act Two, right at the beginning of the movie. It's not quite the crisis, ju...

Re: Order of Exposition

Well, I'm a noob so I offer this suggestion with a grain of salt, but . . . 7 pages of intro is like 10 1/2 mintues, approximately, right? And if what I've learned is correct, you've got 17:30 precious minutes to establish the situation. (For me, that means the audience's Act One ends a little soone...

Re: As Good As Star Wars

Hiya, Fr4gm3nt, I'm new here, too. Learning to write scripts is quite a journey! I'm learning that a script of even a very 'base' movie like 'Bad Santa' is actually a complex construction like the engine of a car . . . I never would have imagined . . . I absolutely agree Lucas hit a sweet spot sytli...

Re: Hi! Please like me!

Thanks so much, Mr. Huntley! Let me just say Dramatica rocks in about 32,000 different ways! It's BY FAR the superior concept for story structure. I sometimes sit and wonder what Twain or Poe or Rod Serling or Shakespeare would have created with the help of Dramatica. I also SEE Dramatica at work in...

I'm an aspiring writer who's been published only as a reviewer in music tabloids and that big 'American Poetry' book where you pay to get your Poem published in it. I was a Technical Writer for years, which might explain a lot. I also RULE a few online Forums, already, so I have no real designs on r...

Re: looking for screenplays with...

Well, I wrote this out long and eloquent like, but here's just a list: Lord of the Rings Greystoke, Legend of Tarzan Highlander Star Wars, Episode 4 - A New Hope Spider-Man The Hulk Ghost Rider The hero is living in his little world, faced with his ordinary obstacles, and he handles them barely, or ...
