Hey Jeff, Here is the email Dramatica support sent me. Hi Steven -- You are correct, they are different, but it is not a bug, it is a feature. Here is a Dramatica tip that answers your question: http://dramatica.com/theory/tip_of_month/tips/tip1203.html Best regards, Chris Huntley Write Brothers Inc...
OK Jeff, its going to be an ongoing discussion I think. Between you and me, I have the downloaded book 'Dramatica' the 4th Edition, and its terribly written, Very confusing. As far as the theme browser, I do have my story selected... I emailed them on their website, so when I get my answer i'll post...
Hey Jeff let me ask you a quick question: I started working with your diagram, and I am looking at the theme browser for my story. Under OS act 1, the 4 themes are openness, preconception, delay and choice. Fine. BUT when I look at the plot sequence report for my story, it say the OS act themes are ...
Thanx Jeff, That sounds good, i'll try that. So you draw 4, 16 point stars? 1 star for each throughline, and the 16 point are 4 thematic idea's per act, 4X16?
Am I to assume that when my plot sequence report tells me that, for example, the OS act 1 deals with The Future (explored in terms of enlightenment, wisdom, skill, experience) that it is up to me at that point to inject those 4 explorations in act 1, or is there another mechanism within Dramatica wh...

What is the difference between the Dramatica Theory book 4th Edition, downloaded from the wesite, and the 10th Anniversary edition? I mean i know one is updated, but should I get the 10th ann edition, is it THAT different? Is the 4th edition outmoded or something, or can I get by with it?

I find the best way to learn this program is to just keep using it. As I work on my plots and themes, etc. as questions pop up I tackle them one at a time, I gave up months ago on trying to learn the 'whole' program at once, its too complex and nuanced.
Did you download the PDF file on the book Dramatica: A new Theory of Story? In the back there is a dictionary. My take is that Approach refers to the methods one uses to solve a problem; attitude refers to a characters temperament while employing those methods (or Approach).
I am having trouble applying these story points; My Impact Characters Issue is Knowledge, her counterpoint is Thought. I get the definitions of these terms, but I don't understand the usage of issue vs.counterpoint in the story. E.g. IC's Issue is Knowledge. In my story her knowledge (what she holds...
In the documentation I see plenty of illustrations of the "Motivation Quad"; action driver, action passenger, etc, Where are the illustrations of the Purpose Quad, Evaluation Quad, and Methodology Quad? I'm sure its out there but I cannot find it. (It is out there, isn't it?)
