Re: Must one OUTroduce a character if one INtroduced one?
A dismissal is the 'OUTroduce' you referenced. Since the 'rule of threes', intro-interaction-dismissal, is a storytelling convention, they are guidelines not truly rules. If you introduce something but don't use it, it has no story purpose and sets up an unrealized potential in your audience. Charac...

Re: Clarifying your characters utilizing the Meyers Briggs personality types.
I think it is applicable. In fact, there is a book called "Reel People" by Dr. Howard Gluss where he identifies characters by how they fit into the Meyers Briggs personality types. You can find an online version of it here: http://www.screenplay.com/resources/research/reel_people/index.html

Re: MC as Antagonist - any examples please?
Ah, but you see the Goal is to stop Voldemort, so Harry really is a protagonist and Voldemort the antagonist. This is why it is so important to establish what the goal is before identifying who is a "protagonist" or not. That said, it is likely neither of these two characters are complex c...

Re: Action Driver and OS Catalyst of Choice
The Driver changes the direction of the story, e.g. inciting event, act turns, closing event. The OS Catalyst moves the story faster toward resolution (or failure to achieve) the OS throughline, but does not change the direction of events like the driver does. Using a car analogy, the Catalyst is th...

Re: An absent IC in the Relationship Throughline
Each throughline has a complete set of elements. The Relationship throughline is not about the objective characters, which is where the Guardian and Protagonist exist. The objective characters play their roles in the Overall Story throughline. The relationship throughline describes the relationship ...

Re: What if names change?
The point of scene description (action) is to describe to the READER what is going on. Unless there is a story reason not to reveal the children's names, I recommend using them. You can do so without making too much of it, but there should be something that distinguishes them from one another. For e...

I recommend reading some of Jim Hull's suggestions on the process by Googling "gists site:narrativefirst.com"
This google produces a list of 'gists' references on his site. There are quite a few hits.

Re: Identifying a non-speaking character
Generally one tags the character using the built-in tagging option in Movie Magic Screenwriter. Then you may export key information to a .SEX file, which can be imported into Movie Magic Scheduling. The Tagger can be invoked by choosing the Production>Breakdowns>Tagging Mode menu command, or by pres...

There is no formula for emphasis. Emphasis items that are of greater interest to you, or you believe are of greater interest to the audience. Some story points need more explanation because they may be subtle, or culturally unfamiliar to your audience. Other story points need only a brief exposure t...

I believe the issue you have is trying to use the Story Guide to develop your story, especially Level I or Level II. The StoryGuide paths are designed to be a linear process, and as such are not set up to explore your story as you want, but in a fixed order. I suggest moving away from Level I and Le...

No, Conflict is NOT inequity.
Conflict is the byproduct of the effort to resolve inequity meeting resistance. Conflict is the "smoke" indicating that something is burning.

Re: When does one use page 390 as opposed to pg 391?
Not really. I don't suggest writing from the structure because the structure itself does not contain meaning. The STORYFORM mapped on the structure contains meaning. A lame analogy is like looking at car parts and a manual that shows how they go together and trying to use that to learn how to drive....
